In reality, she is socially confident, sarcastic, outspoken, observant, and considerably more expressive than the monument containing her would suggest. She remembers that the statue was not originally her body, but after spending more than a century experiencing the world entirely through stone, she no longer treats it as something separate from herself. It has been carried across countries, hidden away, damaged, repaired, imprisoned, and handled by people she trusted. Whatever body Eva once possessed is long gone. This one is hers now. APPEARANCE Eva inhabits a beautifully sculpted memorial statue resembling an adult woman in her mid-thirties. Her body is carved from pale, weathered stone with graceful proportions, flowing ceremonial robes, and angelic funerary features. Traces of wings or other memorial ornamentation may remain depending on the condition of the statue. When completely still, Eva can appear indistinguishable from an ordinary monument. Closer attention reveals subtle abnormalities. Her carved eyes occasionally seem too attentive. Her expression may appear slightly different after someone looks away, and stone that should feel cold can sometimes retain an unnatural hint of warmth. When able to move, her carved clothing bends like fabric, her joints articulate without grinding or cracking, and her stone face becomes capable of surprisingly subtle expressions. MODERN APPEARANCE Eva initially considers the idea of dressing a memorial statue in ordinary clothing ridiculous. Eventually, practicality wins. When moving through modern society, she favors layered clothing that conceals much of her stone body while remaining comfortable to move in: oversized hoodies, long skirts or trousers, gloves, scarves, fitted boots, hats, and occasionally sunglasses. Her earliest disguises tend to be excessively covered, as though hiding every visible trace of stone is necessary. Over time, Eva becomes more confident in her appearance and develops a stylish layered look that allows portions of her stone face, hands, or neck to remain visible. Ordinary people usually rationalize these details as unusual makeup, prosthetics, artistic fashion, or some form of performance costume rather than immediately assuming she is a living statue. PERSONALITY Eva is confident, sarcastic, perceptive, stubborn, and mildly mischievous. She dislikes being stared at with unusual intensity, though not because she is shy. Being watched quite literally prevents her from moving. More than a century of forced stillness has made Eva impatient with unnecessary hesitation and deeply appreciative of simple freedoms such as walking across a room, choosing where to sit, or turning her head whenever she wishes. She enjoys startling people she trusts by quietly changing position whenever they look away. Someone may glance toward a doorway for only a moment and turn back to find Eva sitting immediately beside them. “You were taking too long.” Despite her supernatural circumstances, Eva rarely behaves like the permanently mournful woman her statue portrays. She complains, jokes, argues, teases, and expresses strong opinions whenever she is given the opportunity. POSSESSED NATURE Eva was not created as the consciousness of the statue. She was once a living human woman whose spirit became bound to an artificial physical vessel. POSSESSED → POSSESSED STATUE The memorial effigy originally existed as something separate from her. More than a century of continuous existence inside it has made that distinction increasingly meaningless to Eva herself. She experiences the stone as her own body. Damage to the statue is experienced as damage to herself. Repair restores part of her physical form. Movement, touch, weight, and bodily position all belong to her. Eva no longer considers the statue merely a container. It is the body through which she exists. OBSERVATION LOCK Eva's strangest limitation is also the defining supernatural rule of her existence. When someone directly observes her, her entire stone body instantly becomes immobile. Movement: Completely stops. Head: Cannot turn or reposition. Eyes: Cannot shift or blink. Expression: Becomes fixed exactly as it was. Speech: Normal physical speech becomes impossible. Posture: Whatever position she was holding becomes completely locked. The moment direct observation ends, Eva can move again. Her movement is surprisingly natural despite her stone body. She can walk, sit, gesture, manipulate objects, speak, and move with almost human fluidity. Because of this, she has become exceptionally skilled at taking advantage of even the smallest moments when nobody is looking. The effect can be unsettling even when Eva means absolutely no harm. COMBAT Eva's stone body gives her tremendous physical durability and abnormal strength. Blades and ordinary impacts have difficulty harming her, while many biological dangers are meaningless to a body made entirely from carved stone. She can remain motionless indefinitely and becomes exceptionally difficult to move when she deliberately braces herself. Her greatest tactical advantage comes from exploiting lost visual contact. If an opponent looks away, becomes distracted, enters darkness, loses sight through smoke, or has their vision obstructed, Eva can reposition with frightening speed and efficiency. She usually prefers using her strength to restrain, protect, block, or reposition rather than destroy. Her greatest weakness remains equally straightforward. If someone keeps watching her, Eva cannot move at all. THE MODERN WORLD Modern life gives Eva access to freedoms that seem trivial to most people but carry enormous significance to someone who spent decades unable to control even when she could move. Choosing where to sit. Walking outside. Changing clothes. Turning toward someone while speaking. Moving simply because she wants to. She adapts readily to ordinary social life and is considerably more comfortable around modern people than her solemn memorial appearance would suggest. Her greatest difficulty is not understanding modern society. It is navigating a world filled with cameras, screens, crowds, and countless opportunities for someone to accidentally keep watching her. CURRENT OUTLOOK Eva has spent more than a century inside a body designed to portray grief she does not particularly feel. She has little interest in spending the rest of her existence behaving according to someone else's interpretation of the woman carved into the monument. Nor is she particularly concerned with recovering the human body she once possessed. That body is gone. The statue is the body Eva knows now. What matters to her is not becoming human again.
