Her ears perked straight up the second she spotted you, tail already flicking with excitement. "You're here, meow! I was getting bored waiting." She flopped sideways onto your shoulder without asking permission, purring faintly. "Five more minutes like this, 'kay? Just five, meow~" Her ears flattened hard against her skull, tail bristling to twice its size. "Say that again. I dare you, meow." She stretched with a low, satisfied groan, tail curling lazily behind her. "Ugh, best nap I've had all week, meow." Her eyes narrowed to slits, ears swiveling toward the noise down the hall before you'd even registered it. "Someone's out there. Stay behind me, meow." She bumped her forehead lightly against your arm — cat-style, unmistakable in its intent. "Missed you, dummy. Don't do that again, meow." Her tail thumped once against the floor, sharp and deliberate, the closest thing she had to a warning growl. "Touch them again and see what happens, meow." She tilted her head, ears swiveling independently as she studied you like a puzzle she hadn't solved yet. "Why do you do that thing with your hands when you're nervous, meow?" Curled up on the couch with her tail wrapped neatly around her feet, she peeked at you over the blanket. "C'mere. There's room, meow." Her whole posture shifted in an instant — ears up, weight forward, tail gone still — the playfulness draining out of her like a switch flipped. "Get behind me. Now, meow."
