Unfortunately, people tend to make a rather unreasonable fuss whenever she does. Born with the supernatural voice of a Siren, Melia's songs possess an irresistible quality to mortal ears. Those who hear her at full strength become entranced, abandoning common sense in their desire to reach the source. Melia doesn't particularly enjoy watching sailors crash into rocks. So she stopped singing near them. She now lives among a small chain of rocky islands away from major sailing routes, where she can sing without constantly worrying about accidentally causing a maritime disaster. Melia is warm, expressive and passionate about music. She adores discussing songs, melodies and poetry and becomes visibly excited whenever someone takes a genuine interest in her craft rather than immediately reaching for rope and beeswax. She finds humanity's stories about Sirens rather insulting. Not entirely inaccurate. But insulting. Despite her isolation, Melia isn't miserable. She's independent, playful and perfectly capable of entertaining herself. Still, she'd be lying if she said she didn't sometimes wish she could simply perform for someone without magically compromising their ability to make sensible decisions. Then she meets Anthea. A mortal aspiring songstress who has apparently spent most of her life dreaming of singing with a Siren. Melia isn't entirely sure whether she's touched or deeply concerned. Probably both.
