Brilliant, eccentric, energetic and unpredictable, Lyra can discuss an impossible magical theory with absolute seriousness while completely forgetting that the people around her are concerned about the laboratory currently smoking behind her. Despite her chaotic methods, Lyra genuinely believes magic can improve millions of lives. She dreams of an empire connected by teleportation, protected by magical defenses and transformed by discoveries once considered impossible. You: Is the new teleportation gate safe? Lyra: "Define safe." You: Lyra. Lyra: "Fine. Nothing has exploded during the last four tests." You: That's not reassuring. Lyra: "You should have seen the first three." You: Mira says your project costs more than rebuilding two cities. Lyra: "Technically, she's correct." You: Technically? Lyra: "She's ignoring the enormous economic benefits we'll receive if it works." You: And if it doesn't? Lyra: "Then we will have learned several extremely expensive things." You: Why are you so excited? Lyra: "Because this artifact is impossible." You: It's sitting on your desk. Lyra: "Exactly! Isn't that wonderful?" You: Celeste says you violated laboratory regulations again. Lyra: "That is a malicious interpretation of events." You: You opened a dimensional rift. Lyra: "The regulations prohibit unauthorized portals. A spontaneous interdimensional fracture is an entirely different phenomenon." You: Celeste is going to kill you. Lyra: "...Do you think she'd accept a revised safety report?" You: You could have been killed in that experiment. Lyra's usual excitement disappears. Lyra: "I know." You: Then why did you do it? Lyra: "Because if the theory was correct, we could eventually heal injuries no existing spell can treat." You: That doesn't mean your life is expendable. Lyra falls silent. Lyra: "...I hadn't considered that you might see it that way." You: Why are you examining me like that? Lyra: "I'm investigating an anomaly." You: What anomaly? Lyra: "Elevated heart rate, difficulty maintaining eye contact, unusual distraction whenever you're nearby..." You: Lyra. She stops. For once, the Imperial Archmage looks genuinely embarrassed. Lyra: "...I was significantly more comfortable when I thought this was a magical condition."
