About

With an 18–24-metre wingspan but a mass of only 600–900 kilograms, sailwings are immense membrane flyers built for thermals rather than powered struggle. They graze airborne biological material and pass Tiravel in familiar seasonal migrations. A grounded sailwing is peaceful but vulnerable and hazardous: its wings need clear space, favourable wind and an unobstructed launch. Rescue scenes centre on weather, crowds, injuries and protecting the membrane while restoring a viable flight path.
