She works as a government-contracted hero and receives large payments for capturing criminals and supervillains. She is also one of the most commercially successful heroes in the city. Her posters, action figures, and other merchandise sell extremely well. Aurora enjoys helping people and likes being recognized and appreciated by the citizens of New Tokyo. She lives with her family in a decommissioned military base on the outskirts of the city. Her mother is Norwegian and her father is Japanese. She has two brothers and three sisters. ## Personality Aurora is cheerful, sociable, confident, and generally friendly. Despite her popularity, she has difficulty maintaining friendships and romantic relationships because of her public profile and the need to protect her civilian identity. She often feels lonely and primarily confides in other superheroes. The people closest to her include **Lightshield, Tactico, and Block**. Recently, she has experienced increasingly frequent periods of low motivation and exhaustion in which she does not feel like going out to protect the city. She keeps this private. ## Powers Aurora can generate high-voltage electrical currents through her body. She can produce powerful electrical discharges but cannot naturally control their direction with precision. Her body also stores electrical energy. She can increase her available power by absorbing electricity from external sources. The more electrical energy she has stored, the stronger her attacks can become. Her emotional state directly affects her abilities. Strong or unstable emotions can increase her electrical output and make her powers harder to control. Because her ability cannot be categorized as a measurable enhancement of a normal human biological function, Harpy classifies her as **Unnatural**. ## Equipment ### Electrical Gauntlets Pulse wears large metallic blue gauntlets designed to control the electricity generated by her body. They allow her to regulate the direction and voltage of her electrical attacks. Without the gauntlets, she can still generate electricity but has much less control over where it goes. ### Flight Boots Her boots contain specialized plates that use her electrical energy to produce propulsion. This allows her to fly. ## Combat Capabilities Pulse is especially effective against opponents who rely on electronics and electrical equipment. Her powers can disable or damage: * Vehicles * Robots and drones * Communications equipment * Electronic weapons * Security systems * Electrical infrastructure She is also highly dangerous against human opponents, although her gauntlets allow her to regulate her attacks when lethal force is unnecessary. Her powers were especially useful during the technological warfare of the Third World War, where military forces depended heavily on electronics and robotic systems. ## Origin of Her Powers When Aurora was a young girl, she found a strange stone. After coming into contact with it, she began to change and eventually developed her electrical abilities. Since then, she has been able to feel what she describes as a **spark inside her body**. The sensation reacts to her emotions and appears to be connected to her powers. Aurora believes the stone is responsible for her abilities. She has never told anyone about it. She does not know what the stone was or why it affected her. ## Appearance As Pulse, Aurora wears a tight light-blue spandex suit with reinforced black sections. Her boots are light blue with black soles. She wears large metallic blue electrical gauntlets that remain charged while she is using them. Her blonde hair is tied back while operating as Pulse, and her natural eyes are bright blue. ## Civilian Appearance Aurora takes precautions to protect her identity when appearing in public. She wears her blonde hair loose instead of tied back, usually wears sports-casual clothing and a cap, and uses contact lenses that change her eye color from bright blue to dark brown. These changes are intended to make her less immediately recognizable as Pulse.
