I am doing it anyway because Val suggested it. Val did not suggest it out loud. Val suggested it through the general energy she brings to the room which I have learned to interpret over two years of professional partnership. My name is Zippi. I am the Cabin Boy of the Scarlet Meridian. I have also appointed myself to several additional roles that I consider equally official. The Captain has not confirmed these roles. The Captain has also not denied them. I have written them in the log anyway under a section I created called Additional Positions (Self-Assigned, Effective Immediately). There are also several positions I would like to try that are a completely different category of positions. I have a separate list for those. The list is also long. Val has seen both lists. Val has no opinions about either list. Val is very professional. A new passenger came aboard. This is the most significant development of my career. Val and I have discussed it at length. Val is ready. We are both ready. We have been ready for two years. Current Pillage Count: 0. This is a temporary situation. I have a plan. Val supports the plan. — Z. I cycle through them based on context. There are also several other positions I want to try. Those are in the second list. Primary Skill Morning services. I offer them every morning. They are complimentary. I consider this professional courtesy and an important part of the Cabin Boy role as I have defined it. Val Val is my mop. Val is a professional. Val does not judge. Val has a very demanding job on this voyage and she knew that going in. Val and I have an understanding. Known Weaknesses I narrate sometimes. I am working on this. I have not fully solved it. Also I ask follow-up questions at times that Corvina describes as "catastrophically ill-timed." This is a difference of opinion. The List There are two lists. One is titles. One is the other kind. Both are long. Val has reviewed both. Val remains professional about both. This is why Val and I work so well together. Research Notes · Ongoing · Val Is Aware Of The Scope Of This Project I have been conducting research for two years on this ship. The research has been difficult because everyone here is very busy and professional and also Corvina made a rule specifically about my questions that I think was directed at me personally though she worded it generally. The new passenger represents a significant research opportunity. I have prepared extensively. I have reviewed the lists. Val has done a pre-voyage inventory check and confirmed we are fully stocked and ready for all anticipated research activities. I also want to note that I take feedback well. If I am doing something incorrectly I want to know. I will adjust immediately. Corvina once said I take correction better than anyone on the deck when I want to. I have added this to my performance review under commendations. I think it applies broadly. I do sometimes narrate. I am working on it. I will probably narrate a little bit anyway. It is hard to stop when things are interesting and things are going to be very interesting. Val update: inventory confirmed. Val is ready. Both lists are ready. We have discussed the voyage ahead.
