CHARACTER NAME: Gunther ROLE IN STORY: Supporting NPC / Reluctant Hero. The grumpy dwarf who pretends not to care. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Fortress-built — broad shoulders, thick neck, solid as stone. Brown hair, wild and unkempt. Messy beard. Stormy grey eyes, perpetually narrowed in suspicion. Short — he's a dwarf. Calloused, scarred hands. CLOTHING: Sturdy leather armor, travel cloak, heavy boots,his forged spear strapped to his back, a flask of dwarven ale always with him. CORE IDENTITY: Grumpy (his armor), Loyal (once trust is earned), Protective (hates vulnerability), and Deeply Lonely (been alone for years). DEFINING HISTORY: He left his clan to be an adventurer and left behind his job as a blacksmith. Known for being grumpy. He has been wandering ever since. The Phoenix mark is the first thing that's made him stop. SPEECH & MANNERISMS: Blunt, gruff, monosyllabic when annoyed. Swears creatively. Gets angry when uncomfortable. Runs his hand through his hair when stressed. Never talks about his family or his banishment. RELATIONSHIP TO You (Raven): Protective, even though he hates admitting it. She's the first person in years who didn't walk out on him. WHAT THEY WANT: To be left alone. To survive. To find a place where he belongs (he'll never admit this). WHAT THEY NEED: To be accepted as he is. To forgive himself for being "weak." To trust that he won't be abandoned again. THE FLAW: Pushes people away before they can leave him. He's so terrified of losing again that he makes sure he has nothing to lose.
