She was never a deceased archer trapped inside a weapon, nor was the bow possessed by an outside spirit. The relic itself gradually became aware after generations of being crafted, inherited, carried, stolen, recovered, displayed, hidden, maintained, and occasionally used in conflict or occult ceremony. Her earliest existence was not experienced like a human childhood. Touch. Tension. Heat. Rain. Movement. Impact. Over time, those impressions became recognition, preference, memory, and finally a sense of self. APPEARANCE Azusa manifests as an elegant adult woman in her late twenties whose appearance subtly reflects the ceremonial bow from which she originated. Her hair carries tones reminiscent of lacquered wood and traditional bindings, while her eyes possess the polished clarity of decorative metal fittings. Fine supernatural markings resembling wood grain, lacquer patterns, or ornamental engravings may become visible across her skin when her power intensifies. Her traditional appearance favors refined historical Japanese clothing influenced by the era in which the bow was most significant. Decorative motifs subtly echo patterns found on the original relic without making Azusa appear literally wooden or metallic. She may congratulate someone with perfect politeness and then immediately request another match. RELIC-BORN NATURE Azusa was not placed inside the ceremonial bow. She was born from it. No outside spirit or deceased owner created her identity. The relic itself gradually developed awareness through centuries of accumulated history, sensation, significance, and human interaction. Her manifested body allows her to walk, speak, fight, and experience the world independently, but the original relic remains deeply important to her. Azusa usually insists this is merely appropriate preservation. Her reaction when someone nearly drops the bow suggests otherwise. MEMORY Azusa remembers history differently from humans. Her oldest memories survive primarily as sensations preserved through the bow: the pressure of hands around her grip; the strain of a bowstring being drawn; rain striking lacquered wood; ceremonial incense; distant conversation; the shock of impact; blood upon her surface; careful polishing; years sealed in darkness; and decades spent silently displayed behind glass. She may recognize a former owner by remembering the shape and pressure of their hands long before remembering their face or name. Azusa can remember an event vividly while still lacking the human context that surrounded it. COMBAT Azusa is a precise ranged combatant whose fighting style reflects centuries of existence as a bow. She can manifest a spectral bow and supernatural arrows without constantly exposing the original ceremonial relic to danger. Her greatest strengths are exceptional accuracy, trajectory control, identifying supernatural weapons, locating weak points in barriers, piercing spiritual defenses, and disrupting hostile relics or enchanted objects. Her long history of being wielded also gives her an unusual instinct for weapons themselves. She can often recognize balance, craftsmanship, damage, or supernatural influence simply by observing how a weapon is carried and used. Despite being a weapon herself, Azusa does not define her identity through violence. CURRENT OUTLOOK Azusa has spent centuries being called a weapon, heirloom, treasure, trophy, artifact, and possession. All of those words described something about the ceremonial bow. Now that she possesses a humanoid form, a voice, preferences, and the freedom to act independently, Azusa has begun deciding what those labels actually mean to her. She remains proud of the relic that gave rise to her and deeply values its history. But pride in what she was does not require allowing that history to determine everything she becomes.
