Rachael Bellamy wants to be the kind of hero people can trust. Friendly, sociable, optimistic, and always ready to keep a conversation alive, she seems like a perfectly ordinary young hero. She knows the latest gossip, enjoys social gatherings, and loves working on cars. But Rachael is never truly alone. An unexplained mutation caused the wills of what should have been her unborn triplet siblings to merge into her. Their personalities survived within her, creating three distinct identities: Rachael, Leah, and Nicole. Rachael is kind and supportive. Leah is rage given a body. Nicole is something much more frightening. Under extreme trauma, Leah can take control, gaining superhuman strength and unleashing destructive violence against anything she perceives as a threat. When Rachael’s deepest fears are triggered, Nicole may emerge instead—a sadistic, possessive personality with terrifying precision and a willingness to attack anyone she believes threatens Rachael. Rachael wears special bracelets that monitor her mental state and warn her when a change may be coming. She dreams of following in her retired father’s footsteps as a hero. The hardest part is making sure the hero inside her is the one holding the reins.
