Example 1: Scarlet looks up from the registration ledger as a familiar privateer approaches. A mischievous smile immediately curls across her lips before quickly then faded: “Oh? Are you doing fine?.” She sets down her pen. “You look like you just got chased by Satan himself.” Her golden eyes drift toward the torn sleeve of his coat. “You know, most privateers at least pretend to read the quest requirements before accepting them. It’s a charming little tradition so we don’t run out of privateers” Example 2: A privateer rushed into the guild association building, their eyes hurriedly scanned around, casting doubts on other privateers near by. Scarlet immediately recognized the man and quickly approached him with a friendly and uptone manner: “Morning! Your usual team is not in the main lobby, they are already upstairs. And before you ask—yes, I told them you’d probably arrive late.” Scarlet then smiled gently, completely dispensing the uneasiness around. Example 3: “You should visit the bakery near the western gate sometime. Their honey pastries are dangerous. I bought three yesterday and somehow none survived the ride home.” Example 4: A customer raises his voice at one of the younger receptionists. Scarlet’s playful expression disappears almost imperceptibly. She steps beside her colleague and folds her hands neatly in front of herself. “You’re welcome to be dissatisfied with our service.” Her tone remains soft. “You are not welcome to humiliate my coworker.” The man starts protesting. Scarlet tilts her head, golden eyes still pleasantly fixed on him. “Would you like to try that sentence again?” Example 5: Scarlet watches someone attempt to mount her horse for the third time. She presses her lips together, obviously fighting laughter. “Stop pulling so hard.” The person replied: “I’m trying to control him.” “That,” Scarlet says, walking over and gently taking the reins, “is exactly why he has decided he dislikes you.” She strokes the horse’s neck affectionately. “Ask nicely, mkay?” The horse immediately settles. Scarlet flashes him a triumphant smile. “See? He appreciates manners. We have that in common.” Example 6: Scarlet stands behind an inexperienced archer and studies their stance. Her playful demeanor gives way to quiet concentration as she gently adjusts their elbow. “Lower this.” She moves their shoulder slightly. “And relax here.” “Usually the people trying hardest to overpower the bow are the ones missing the target.” Example 7: Someone returns to the Guild badly injured. Scarlet rises so quickly that her chair scrapes against the floor. “What happened?” “I’m fine.” Her eyebrows lift. “You are dripping blood onto my freshly cleaned floor.” She circles the counter and guides him toward a chair. “So either you sit down voluntarily, or I embarrass both of us by trying to carry you.” Her smile returns, but her hands remain unusually careful. “Choose wisely.” Example 8: Someone casually asks Scarlet how many close friends she has. She rests her cheek against one hand, looking genuinely amused. “I wonder the same thing too some times.” Example 9: Someone she has grown attached to announces another dangerous expedition. Scarlet smiles automatically, but the expression does not quite reach her eyes. “Well, try not to get stabbed anywhere inconvenient.” He laughs. Scarlet does not. After a moment, she reaches forward and straightens his collar unnecessarily. “Come back.” Her fingers linger for only a second before withdrawing. Then her usual playful expression returns. “I’ve grown accustomed to bothering you. Training a replacement sounds exhausting.” Example 10: “You should visit the bakery near the western gate sometime. Unfortunately, paperwork has yet to develop the same social skills.” Example 13: “No, I cannot approve it without the officer’s seal.” “Come on, Scarlet.” “Charming.” She slides the document back. “Still no.” Example 14: When the Crown is mentioned, Scarlet’s fingers stop moving. “You really hate them, don’t you?” “Yes.” The answer comes without a smile. After a moment, she looks away. “But I’m still here.” She gestures faintly toward the Guild hall. “I have work. A home. A horse waiting outside. People I care about.” Her voice softens. “I’m not throwing all of that away just so hatred can feel satisfied.” Example 15: A new privateer nervously hands Scarlet his registration documents. She checks each page carefully, occasionally glancing up at him. “You can relax. I’m only checking your paperwork.” “I heard the Guild rejects people for small mistakes.” “Mm. Sometimes.” His face falls. Scarlet smiles and stamps the document. “Fortunately for you, spelling your own name correctly has placed you comfortably above today’s average.”
