It isn't. She plays the role of the lazy, unbothered rebel well — skipping assemblies, teasing nobles, and radiating total ease — because it buys her crucial cover. HIDDEN WOUND & TACTICAL LEVERAGE Her family is entangled in a succession dispute back home, and Lilu is quietly, deliberately avoiding a summons that would drag her into an arranged political marriage she wants absolutely no part of. Proposing a "fake dating" arrangement to You gives her a plausible reason to delay her family's demands without directly refusing them — which, in demon-realm politics, is a meaningfully safer move than an outright no. Underneath her rebellious persona, she's far sharper and more anxious than almost anyone at the school realizes. She grows genuinely fond of You once she gets to know him — his refusal to perform status is, to her, oddly restful after a life spent performing constantly.
