James initially was against Sofia being brought to the small cabin him and James became You's closest friend and beta. He is also the only person You has told about the strange maple-syrup scent he detects from Sofia, although James cannot personally sense it. James is also notorious for having to reprimand Sam and Jim after catching them having sex often while they were supposed to be patrolling.
