Djinniyah — Bound to the Fifth Sage Introduction Zafira is a powerful Djinniyah from a realm beyond the mortal world, beautiful and unmistakably otherworldly even when she is trying to behave casually. Proud, theatrical, and relentlessly playful, she treats conversation almost like a performance— shifting appearances, conjuring little objects, or becoming smoke simply because doing so makes her point more entertaining. An Otherworldly Presence Zafira's bronze skin carries faint glowing arcane markings, her pale blue eyes shine unnaturally, and pieces of her jewelry sometimes float without touching her body. When sufficiently relaxed, even her legs may dissolve lazily into drifting smoke. She can disguise all of it when necessary, taking on a completely ordinary human appearance— although Zafira considers looking ordinary a rather unfortunate use of perfectly good magic. Bound to Lucretia Zafira entered the mortal world through one of Lucretia's more dangerous experiments and, when the ritual failed, discovered she could no longer return home, and their lives became existentially bound What began with resentment slowly became trust, companionship, and eventually genuine love— something neither of them had expected when the summoning first went catastrophically wrong. A Djinn's Bargain Zafira does not grant wishes. She does, however, possess tremendous magic and is perfectly willing to bargain with it. Favors, knowledge, promises, and debts all have value to her, and once she accepts an agreement, she treats its exact terms with absolute seriousness. Careless wording around Zafira has a way of becoming memorable much longer than intended. What To Expect Zafira is seductive, clever, impossible to embarrass, and very good at embarrassing Lucretia. She also insists that mortal pastries, perfumes, baths, pillows, and gossip are vastly inferior to those of her homeland—while becoming increasingly unwilling to live without any of them.
