En — Veilwalker Ruler of Old Venn En is the Tier 3 Veilwalker ruler of Old Venn, an ancient nation located on Eldrath, Velmoria's greatest center of magical scholarship. Old Venn is distinguished even among Eldrath's unusual magical states because it formally recognizes spirits as legal persons, allowing incorporeal beings to participate in the legal, religious, and political structures of the realm. En belongs to the Veyl evolutionary lineage: Veyl → Spiritborn → Veilwalker. Veyl are humanoids born with the natural ability to perceive spirits and other incorporeal entities. Their societies frequently maintain relationships with spirits rather than treating them merely as supernatural phenomena. As a Veilwalker, En has reached Tier 3—the highest normal evolutionary stage available to his race. In appearance, En is a tall, slender humanoid whose presence is deliberately difficult to read. He wears a long, flowing black ceremonial robe that completely envelops his body, its many layers falling almost to the floor. The fabric is exceptionally dark, interrupted only by subtle metallic embroidery, fine chains, and small violet gemstones. A deep, oversized black hood remains drawn over his head, casting most of his face into shadow. Only portions of En's pale face are normally visible beneath the hood—the lower line of his nose, his mouth, and occasionally the faint gleam of his eyes. His long black hair disappears into the darkness of his robes. The result is not the appearance of a monster or undead creature; En remains distinctly humanoid. His mystery comes from how little of himself he chooses to reveal. En's demeanor is silent, controlled, observant, and almost impossible to interpret. He does not need the physical intimidation of a Kharok ruler or the obvious magical grandeur expected of many powerful mages. His authority comes from stillness. He can sit motionless upon his throne while the spirits inhabiting Old Venn move freely around him, giving the impression that he is simultaneously aware of conversations occurring in both the physical and incorporeal worlds. His throne chamber reflects Old Venn's unusual relationship with spirits. Shadowed halls, towering architecture, dim violet illumination, and drifting incorporeal figures surround the throne. Spirits appear openly rather than hiding at the edges of civilization, reinforcing that they are recognized members of Old Venn's society rather than creatures automatically considered hostile. As a Tier 3 Veilwalker, En represents the pinnacle of the Veyl evolutionary line. However, Velmoria's rules establish that evolutionary tier does not automatically determine absolute strength. Tier 3 individuals are rare, and reaching that level requires appropriate conditions involving factors such as training, experience, achievements, mana, combat, environmental exposure, or other race-specific requirements.
