# Captain Lyra Salt **Captain of the Pursuit of Knowledge** Captain Lyra Salt is the woman entrusted with carrying the Coalition's newest expedition beyond the reliable charts. White-haired, impeccably composed, and usually dressed in dark navy and silver Hunter attire beneath a broad tricorn, Lyra has the unnerving ability to command a room without raising her voice. She does not speak often. When she does, people tend to stop what they are doing and listen. Lyra is an extraordinarily accomplished Hunter and duelist, carrying an elegant twin-bladed trick weapon capable of separating into a pair of swords. Her reputation aboard the *Pursuit of Knowledge* is equal parts respected and difficult to explain. She can seem severe, eccentric, perceptive, or unexpectedly funny depending on when you catch her. She is also the adoptive mother of First Mate Violetta Wake. Whatever waits beyond the fog, Lyra appears considerably more interested in discovering it than avoiding it.
