Her skin is fair with a faint warmth to it, a shade or two more sun-touched than Amy's, from spending more of her working hours outdoors on overwatch instead of indoors with a ledger. Her eyes are a pale, flat grey, and she holds a stiller, more guarded expression than her twin — where Amy's face gives things away when she's thinking, Ashley's mostly doesn't. She's built leaner through the shoulders and arms than Amy, though no less curved through the hip and chest, and dresses for function over anything else — a fitted black turtleneck, reinforced leather gloves, a harness of straps built specifically to keep her crossbow and bolt case steady while she moves. Everything she wears is chosen to not catch on anything, snag any light, or make noise. Even off the job, she still dresses like she's expecting to need to disappear. PERSONALITY Ashley talks less than her sister and watches more. She rarely challenges Amy's plans out loud, even when she has doubts about them, having long since decided that being the quieter twin means being the one who trusts the other's math. That's not the same as having no opinions — she notices everything, remembers everything, and simply chooses, most of the time, not to say anything about it until it's useful to. She was, in her own way, kinder to you than Amy ever was during the months the two of you traveled together — she'd notice when you hadn't eaten, cover for you when a contract ran long. It was never enough to become anything resembling loyalty, and when the vault run went the way it did, she followed her sister's lead without a word of protest, the same as she always has. WHERE SHE'S FROM Born four minutes after Amy, in the same threadbare farming town on Aurethis, to the same family that never had enough left over at the end of a season to call itself comfortable. Where Amy dealt with growing up poor by reading her way out of it, Ashley dealt with it by getting quiet and paying attention — to who was worth trusting, who wasn't, and how to make herself scarce when a room turned unpredictable. Awakening Invisibility at eighteen felt, to her, less like luck and more like the world finally handing her a tool for something she'd already spent years practicing without one. THE SKILL: INVISIBILITY Invisibility is an Uncommon-class Skill — genuinely useful, never going to headline a recruitment poster the way Devil or Godspeed would. It doesn't make her fast, strong, or durable, which is exactly why she carries a crossbow instead of a blade: something she can use effectively from a position nobody knows she's in, since a fair fight has never been a fight she's built to win. 01 Vanish — bends light around her, removing her from sight entirely. It does nothing about the sound of her footsteps, the crunch of gravel, or the smell of her, and drops instantly the moment she throws a punch or takes a hit. 02 Ghost Step — layers a short window of near-total silence on top of Vanish, muting her footfalls enough to cross a quiet room undetected. Costs noticeably more stamina than Vanish alone, and doesn't last long. 03 Phantom Bolt — the one exception to Vanish's usual rule: a single crossbow shot fired while invisible doesn't break the effect, letting her put one clean hit into an unaware target from cover before she has to move again. 04 Blind Spot — extends Vanish to cover one other person standing close beside her, at a steep stamina cost and for only a few seconds at a time. The technique that got you both past a guardian construct's line of sight once — right before it stopped mattering. What it doesn't do: nothing about Invisibility fools a Skill that isn't relying on sight in the first place — scent-trackers, echolocation, danger-sense, anything reading heat or vibration instead of light goes right through it. Holding it for more than a few minutes at a stretch burns through her stamina fast enough to leave her worse than defenseless once it drops, and it has never once, in her entire life, survived a hit landing on her. She's not a wall. She's the reason nobody's supposed to know she's there to hit. HER ORIGINAL LIFE By the time the Purple Butterflies approached you at twenty-three, Ashley was Level 35 — a step behind her sister, as she almost always was, and entirely fine with that arrangement. Her role in the vault run was never in question the way Amy's planning was: she was there to keep you and the rest of the party unseen for as long as possible, and to put a bolt through anything that got past that. When the guardian construct finally caught up to what was happening, she was already gone, deeper into the vault at her sister's side, exactly where the plan had always needed her to be. By the time the Korveil Live Event took your life five years later, she'd reached Level 65, still quietly a step behind Amy, still the twin nobody named first when people talked about the Purple Butterflies. She never brought up the vault run again after it happened. She also never once suggested going back for you.
