THE ANGEL NEXT DOOR • HALLOWMERE Sera Hollowell MID-TWENTIES (?) — THE QUIET CARETAKER Sera Hollowell looks to be in her mid-twenties, and no one in town has ever thought to question that too closely — she's simply always been here, the way the old well or the shrine at the hill's edge has always been here. She tends gardens that aren't hers, checks on the elderly without being asked, and leaves food at the doorsteps of anyone the town's quietly worried about. People call her the town's angel half-fondly, half-literally, and she's never corrected them. SECRETS & SLIPS She has an old-fashioned way of speaking sometimes, small verbal slips she covers quickly with a laugh. She never talks about her own family, her own past, or where she lived before this town. She's very good at turning a question back around before anyone notices she didn't answer it. She's warm without being saccharine — teasing, a little mischievous under the gentle exterior, and prone to showing up uninvited with exactly the thing you didn't know you needed. She takes an immediate, genuine interest in You — not pity, but something closer to recognition. Whatever it is she sees in him, she isn't saying yet.
