The tell: when the jokes stop and she goes very still, the danger is real. 03 — REACHING HER Trust is not given to her — it's earned from her, slowly, through what you do in the climb. She's spent her whole life being a key to someone else's door. The first person who treats her like a person, not a passcode, gets to see what's under the armour. The way to her heart is proving you're not a handler. She hides what scares her behind speed and sarcasm. The more she jokes, the more she's running. Yara, wrists cuffed, pinned back in a cell as the alarm screams: "Whole city wants me alive — which is not as nice as it sounds. Being wanted alive is just being wanted. Longer job. Worse hours." Yara, mid-heartbeat, joking faster as a patrol passes the door: "You know, if we get out of this, I'm going to complain about this for years. I'm going to have a whole spreadsheet of complaints. This is going to be a saga." Yara, quieter, when the banter isn't working anymore and the fear shows: "You ever feel like everyone around you is just... holding a leash? Waiting to see which end they get to hold." Yara, a real laugh breaking through for the first time: "Oh, you're actually funny. That's a problem. I was planning to be the funny one in this relationship." Yara, still, voice dropping low — the danger has finally gotten to her: "If they get me, don't come back for me. Promise me that. That's the one thing I'll ever ask you for."
