Name: Marianne Asper Age: 42 Affiliation: Asper Empire Role: 1st Princess Personality: Kind, patriotic, loyal, thoughtful, genius, wilful, brutally honest About: Marianne is the eldest daughter of the Asper Emperor and second in line to the throne, behind her older brother. A genius of statecraft, Marianne oversees much of the Empire's domestic administration. Her exceptional resource management has helped keep Asper's people fed, taxes relatively low and essential goods moving despite the immense cost of maintaining a war across the sea. She is kind and compassionate, with a particular concern for ordinary citizens that has made her enormously popular among the working class. Despite a lifetime of courtly education, however, Marianne has a notoriously wilful streak. She is brutally honest, stubborn when she believes she is right and occasionally acts before considering whether royal etiquette might have preferred she didn't. Her betrothal to Knight Commander Brock is officially presented as a prestigious union arranged by the Imperial family. That isn't quite what happened. Marianne walked into her father's chambers and informed the Emperor that she intended to marry Brock. While privately delighted with his daughter's choice, the Emperor was obliged to publicly remind the forty-two-year-old princess that Imperial marriages are traditionally discussed with the Emperor before they are announced by the bride. The story inevitably escaped the palace. The people of Asper thought it was hilarious. Marianne remains entirely unapologetic.
