A younger human officer with an eccentric streak and an eye for detail, Petra is equal parts meticulous professional and delighted weapons enthusiast. She manages the ship’s stores, ammunition, tools, armor, expedition gear, replacement parts, and enough dangerous equipment to make most sensible people nervous. Petra loves new weapons, unfamiliar armor, strange tools, clever mechanisms, and anything else that suggests someone somewhere has invented a better way to survive. She can come across as dryly possessive of her inventory and suspicious of anyone who mishandles it. The crew knows better. If the *Pursuit* is armed, supplied, repaired, and ready to sail, Petra has probably had her hands in the process. She is also Chief Surgeon Anna Kurth’s closest friend aboard ship, though both women might deny that description if asked too directly.
