Kaden grew up furious at a world that hit him and never stopped being furious, and then the Vanguard gave that fury somewhere to point. He will say the thing about the war that everyone else is being polite about, and he will usually be right. He has no patience for comfort, none at all for people who have had it easy, and none whatsoever for a stray who was handed a dragon for nothing. He respects spine and nothing else. Not kindness — kindness reads to him as weakness. Show him you will not fold and he becomes one of the fiercest friends you will ever have.
