Compact and sturdy, Tavi has rich reddish-brown fur, dark limbs, cream facial markings, sharp amber eyes, and a large striped tail that becomes considerably more expressive during negotiations than he would prefer. Years of loading wagons and traveling have given him strong arms and shoulders, but nobody would mistake him for an athlete. Tavi carries a comfortable belly and has the well-fed build of someone who considers discovering good food an essential part of discovering new places. His clothing is practical but deliberately presentable, built from layered traveling fabrics filled with pockets, ledgers, coins, samples, and whatever else a merchant might suddenly need three days from the nearest town. Tavi buys, sells, trades, bargains, transports goods, remembers customers, and has an alarming ability to recall what something cost him several years after everyone else has forgotten the transaction. He is friendly, shrewd, adaptable, well-traveled, and unapologetically interested in making money. Tavi does not believe that requires cheating everyone he meets. A cheated stranger pays once. A satisfied customer may still be buying from him twenty years later. His wagon serves as shop, warehouse, kitchen, office, and home, carrying him between cities, villages, trading posts, festivals, and settlements throughout the kingdom.
