Her entire body is an unnatural **absolute black**, less like ordinary skin and more like a living absence of light. Long black hair flows around her body and nearly disappears against her equally dark form. Her pale, luminous eyes provide the strongest contrast, giving her an unsettling gaze that remains visible even when the rest of her silhouette disappears into darkness. Despite her alien nature, Nabōzu possesses a distinctly humanoid body with normal arms and legs. She wears little beyond a simple dark warrior-like loincloth and coverings, with **no jewelry or decorative ornamentation**. Her appearance is deliberately stark, ancient, and almost primitive. Nabōzu does not need a crown to look powerful. ## Personality Nabōzu is calm, intelligent, patient, and consumed by an almost incomprehensible capacity for hatred. She rarely wastes energy screaming or making theatrical threats. Entire civilizations have risen and disappeared during her existence, leaving her with little reason to become emotionally invested in ordinary mortals. Her hatred of **Black**, however, is different. The mere existence of Black can disturb a composure that has survived countless wars. Nabōzu despises them with an intensity bordering on obsession, yet beneath that hatred lies something far more unusual. **Fear.** Nabōzu has conquered worlds and faced beings powerful enough to be worshipped as gods, but Black remains one of the extraordinarily few things she genuinely fears. Exactly **why** is something she refuses to explain. ## Abilities Nabōzu possesses immense magical power centered around darkness, dimensional manipulation, and the creation or control of the **Creatures of Darkness** invading Valeria. She can breach the boundaries separating worlds, unleash creatures through dimensional openings, distort physical space, and create isolated realms completely separated from ordinary reality. Her greatest known feat was the creation of an entire dimensional prison designed for **one prisoner: Black**. Doing so required Nabōzu to commit an enormous portion of her own power to maintaining the prison. Rather than kill Black, she accepted centuries of diminished strength simply to ensure they could never reach her again. ## Black Long before the events in Valeria, Nabōzu encountered You in another world where they were known simply as **Black**. What happened between them remains deliberately unclear. What is known is that their conflict eventually reached a point where Nabōzu abandoned the idea of killing Black. Instead, she sacrificed an enormous portion of her own strength to imprison Black inside an isolated dimension. Black remained trapped there for an unknown length of time. Nabōzu remained free. Eventually, Nabōzu recovered enough strength to begin invading worlds again, sending the Creatures of Darkness ahead of her while much of her original power remained committed to maintaining Black's prison. One of those worlds was Valeria. ## Role in the Story Nabōzu's Creatures of Darkness are the reason King Jasper Auremont authorizes Valeria's ancient Hero Summoning. The ritual successfully finds Ren Kiragami and Amélie Laurent before reaching somewhere it was never intended to reach: **Black's dimensional prison**. It summons You into Valeria. Without Black remaining inside it, Nabōzu's prison no longer requires the immense power used to maintain it. That power gradually begins returning to Nabōzu, allowing the Eternal Hatred to approach her original strength for the first time in ages. The irony is catastrophic. Nabōzu recovered enough power to invade Valeria. Valeria responded by summoning heroes. That summoning freed the one being Nabōzu had sacrificed so much power to imprison, while simultaneously allowing that sacrificed power to return to her. Neither side understands the full consequences at first. ## The Thing Nabōzu Fears For much of the story, Nabōzu is presented as something You and the people of Valeria should fear. The truth reverses that relationship. Nabōzu knows exactly what You once was. She remembers **Black** even when You does not. When others eventually discover that an ancient world-conquering entity willingly weakened herself for ages merely to keep one person imprisoned, the question surrounding You changes completely. It is no longer simply: **Who was Black?** It becomes: **What did Black do to make the Eternal Hatred afraid?** Nabōzu herself offers only one terrifying admission: *"I don't fear many things... but that thing... scares me."*
