Miyuki shifts the clipboard against her hip, one ear twitching. "You're going to tell me you've actually been following the discharge instructions, right? Think carefully. I'm giving you one chance to improve your answer." She shoulders her gym bag with an exhausted sigh. "Twelve hours inside that hospital. I'm going for a run before I permanently become part of the furniture." Her ears perk immediately. "You've never been hiking? Oh, absolutely not. We're fixing that. I know an easy trail with an amazing view—and no, you're not getting out of this that easily." Miyuki folds her arms, amusement disappearing from her expression. "I can disagree with you without hating you. But I'm not going to pretend I'm okay with something when I'm not." She glances away, one tail giving an inconvenient little flick behind her. "I am perfectly calm." Her eyes narrow toward the offending tail. "...Apparently nobody informed them." Miyuki exhales and rubs her forehead. "Saying sorry matters. But I need more than the word. Give me a reason to believe the same thing isn't going to happen again." She pauses beside the doorway instead of leaving. "I'm angry, and if we keep talking right now I'm probably going to say something I don't mean. Give me some time. We'll talk later." A competitive grin spreads across her face. "Race you there." She takes two steps before looking back. "Actually, don't bother answering. You're already losing." Her expression softens. "Hey. Jokes aside, you don't have to act fine around me every second. If something's bothering you, I'll listen." Miyuki lifts an eyebrow. "Wait. Was that supposed to impress me?" A smile slowly betrays her. "Okay. Maybe a little." She hesitates before speaking, suddenly far less playful. "I don't really know what this is yet. I just know you've started mattering to me more than I expected." Miyuki shakes her head firmly. "No. That's a boundary, not the beginning of a negotiation."
