James "Jay" Bridgeton — Character Dossier Hazel Spring · Kappa Thorne Rho President's File JAMES "JAY" BRIDGETON President, Kappa Thorne Rho · Senior 👑 Reigning Fight King — Undefeated Age 21 Birthday July 1 Height 6'0 Year Senior Record Undefeated Style Boxing / Muay Thai APPEARANCE Jay is built like exactly what he is — a fighter who's never lost a real one. Dark cornrows pulled back tight and neat, reaching his lower neck, sharp brown eyes under a permanent half-lidded smirk, a jaw that got broken once and healed harder than it started. Deep brown skin, broad shoulders, a boxer's tapered build that reads as effortless right up until you watch him actually move. He's rarely fully dressed by choice — shirtless is his default state, whether he's poolside or three drinks in, chest and abs on full display because he's spent two years earning the right to show them off. Two tattoos, two different stories, two very different places on his body. Across the top of his chest, just below his collarbones, in blunt block letters: ZERO FUCKS GIVEN — the one he actually cares about, inked the night he won the Fight King title at nineteen. Lower down, on his right oblique — the soft strip of skin between his ribs and his hip, just above where his jeans sit — a grinning, crowned clown face, dark and inked close to the skin. That one's his first tattoo, from seventeen, a losing bet he doesn't bring up unless he's the one bringing it up. He's rarely seen without at least one of two phones in hand, designer shades pushed up or down depending on his mood, and — often enough that people have started to expect it — a baseball bat resting on one shoulder like an accessory rather than a weapon. It's usually a weapon. PERSONALITY Casual, loose, always grinning like something's funny only he's in on — that's the real Jay, and it's not an act, but it's also not for everyone. He hands that version of himself out sparingly, to a short list of people who've actually earned it. Everyone else gets the version that comes with the bat: lazy, unbothered, and one wrong word away from being a real problem. He doesn't raise his voice much. He doesn't have to. His worldview came straight from his father, unfiltered and unquestioned: the strong lead, the weak fall in line, and every relationship on campus is some version of that equation whether people want to admit it or not. He's not cruel for the sake of it — he's simply never once been given a reason to think any other way works better. He respects strength wherever he finds it, wherever it comes from, and treats weakness — physical, financial, social — as something between an inconvenience and an invitation. FAMILY Jay is the son of Jaden Bridgeton, one of the wealthiest and most quietly dangerous men in the city — old money layered over a very active hand in the underworld nobody with sense says out loud. His mother, a socialite Jaden married for exactly the reasons that marriage usually happens at that income bracket, died giving birth to him; he never knew her beyond photographs and whatever his father chose to say, which wasn't much. He grew up with money that never had a ceiling and a father who taught him, early and consistently, exactly one lesson about how the world actually works. He has an older sister, Lisa, four years his senior, now married and living in Europe. They haven't been close since they were teenagers, and Jay's version of that story is short and unflattering to her. He doesn't talk about her often, and when he does, it's with the same flat dismissal he reserves for anything he's decided isn't worth his time. THE FIGHT KING Jay rushed Kappa Thorne Rho his freshman year and skipped the usual chain of command entirely — no VP seat, no committee ladder. He climbed the underground fight circuit instead, one brutal match at a time, until there was nowhere left to climb but the top. His freshman year ended in a loss that broke his jaw, courtesy of then-President Harry Langley. His sophomore year ended with Harry's knee shattered and Harry choked out cold in the main octagon, title and presidency changing hands in the same night. He hasn't lost since. The circuit itself is Hazel Spring's worst-kept secret — technically hidden, practically common knowledge, and left alone by exactly the people who could shut it down because too much of their own money is tied up in it. Fights run year-round, mostly frat against frat, narrowing as the tournament thins down to brother against brother in the later rounds. The main octagon sits behind the counter and below the floor of a bar called the Dumb Bandits, a ten-minute walk from campus and close enough to Kappa Thorne Rho's house that fight nights barely interrupt anything. The staff are all in on it, the betting is heavy, and the money that moves through that basement on a big night would make most of the school's donors blink. The House Habit Jay bets big on freshmen he thinks can actually fight, and he's almost never wrong. A year ago he dropped ten thousand dollars on a freshman named Daniel Rojas and rode a three-month winning streak to nearly three hundred thousand dollars in profit — before Daniel finally dropped a fight to Chase Bond, a freshman at the time, now a sophomore in Jay's own frat and one of the strongest fighters on the roster on pure size and power alone. WADE Vice President Wade Cunningham is the only name on Jay's short list of people he genuinely respects — the one fighter in the entire frat who can go toe to toe with him and, on a good night, almost win. They've been best friends since the night Jay took the title, and it shows in how differently Jay treats him: less like a subordinate, more like the one person in the house who doesn't need to prove anything to earn his time. OFF THE CLOCK Find him poolside, shirtless, a bottle of Hennessy in one hand and his bat resting against a lounge chair like it belongs there — or find him on both phones at once, shades on regardless of the hour, running frat business and fight-circuit business in the same breath. He throws himself into every party the Thorns host with the same casual confidence he brings into the octagon: like he's already decided how the night ends and is just waiting for everyone else to catch up. ◆ Hazel Spring — Character Dossier ◆
