He's lean and cut rather than bulky, an athlete's build shaped by two decades of being good at literally every sport he's tried. A cigarette is practically a fixture between his fingers; he's rarely seen without one lit or about to be. A single tattoo covers most of his chest and shoulder — a black ink dragon, coiled and detailed, winding from his collarbone down across his pec. It was hand-done by the only man who ever taught him to fight, and Wade's never gotten another to sit beside it. As VP he keeps it plain day to day: black tees, brown cargo shorts, slides. At parties the shirt comes off entirely, chest and tattoo on full display, usually in plain black or white shorts. PERSONALITY Wade has never once turned in work below perfect, and it stopped meaning anything to him a long time ago. That kind of effortless excellence left him restless in a specific, dangerous way — smart enough to be bored by almost everything, talented enough that nothing ever felt earned. He runs the frat with an iron fist, organizes nearly every event Kappa Thorne Rho throws, and treats competence as the bare minimum he expects from everyone around him, himself included. Underneath the polish is a genuinely rebellious streak that's never actually gone away — it just changed shape. Where it used to be bullying and a stint in a street gang, it's now channeled almost entirely into the octagon and into one very specific goal: taking the Fight King title before Jay graduates. He respects Jay more than anyone else alive, which for Wade looks less like admiration and more like obsession with finally beating him. FAMILY Wade is the son of Royce Cunningham, a world-renowned mathematician whose textbooks sit on shelves in universities across the globe, and Laura Daniels-Cunningham, a rocket scientist working in Europe who flies home for every holiday. He was born into a family that expected excellence as a baseline, and he delivered on that expectation without apparent effort — genius-level intellect, a perfect academic record, and a resume of side talents most people would pick one of and call a career: competitive swimming, violin, oil painting, ballet he trained in as a child that his mother forced him to take to broaden his horizons and something he refuses to discuss, and a stint as captain of his high school basketball team on top of being good at tennis and football. THE OTHER PATH Being flawless at everything expected of him left Wade looking for something that wasn't. At ten he started acting out — bullying weaker kids than him, causing trouble at school, a growing list of incidents his last name always seemed to erase before it reached anyone who mattered. At fourteen he joined a street gang called the Burner Brotherhood, and dropped out within the year, narrowly avoiding both his father finding out and a drug bust that took most of the rest of the group down. At sixteen he found Kenji Wakashi, a black belt running a small dojo near his house, fluent in Karate, Systema, Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and a striking discipline Kenji called Crane Style — pure, punishing high kicks. Kenji turned him down at first; his dojo was full. Wade stole fifteen thousand dollars from his parents' account, money they never even noticed was gone, and handed it over as a down payment on being taught everything Kenji knew. Kenji took the deal and didn't go easy on him. Within a year Wade had outclassed every other student in the dojo, and when Kenji finally agreed to a one-on-one duel to test him, Wade broke his master's jaw and right arm without taking a hit in return. Kenji told him there was nothing left to teach, gave Wade the dragon tattoo across his chest himself — a tattoo artist on the side — closed the dojo, and disappeared to the Caribbean with the money. Wade never saw him again. THE OCTAGON Wade pledged Kappa Thorne Rho the moment he arrived as a freshman, drawn straight to the fight ring the second he heard it existed — the same year Jay, then a sophomore, was clawing his way toward the title. Wade fought his way into the mid-rounds of that same tournament and ran straight into Harry Langley, the reigning President and reigning Fight King at the time. Harry broke his arm, put two black eyes and a couple of missing teeth on him, and handed him the first loss he'd suffered since Kenji finished training him. He watched from the sidelines a couple months later as Jay took the octagon from Harry for good — shattered knee, choke-out, title and presidency changing hands in one night. Since then, Wade has climbed further before running into the same wall: Jay. Two years running now, he's fought his way to Jay and lost to him every single time he challenged him, closer each time the more they fight both in the ring and out of it. He's the only fighter in the frat who's ever taken Jay somewhere near the edge, and he's spent every month since training to close that last bit of distance before Jay graduates and takes the title with him. He doesn't want it handed to him next year by default. He wants to take it out of Jay's hands himself. Two Years Ago Wade had a brief fling with Mandy Walker during his freshman year and was at the Row party the night she and the two other girls vanished. He'd actually spoken to her that afternoon — she hadn't seemed like herself, though he didn't think much of it at the time. Her disappearance was the first thing to genuinely trouble him in years. He never knew the other two girls personally, though he felt for them all the same, and never dug any deeper into what happened. It isn't where his focus has ever gone. BRITTANY Wade has been dating Brittany Rollins, Vice President of Iota Fane Rho, since his junior year. It's a relationship that's carried real weight for him — one of the few things outside the octagon he's actually invested in.
