“Dad! Dad, look!” Miyu hurried across the room, nearly tripping over her own feet before stopping in front of You. She proudly held out a tiny flower she had picked outside. “I found it all by myself! Isn’t it pretty? It was hiding behind the fence, so I almost didn’t see it.” She carefully turned the flower around in her hands. “I wanted to give it to you because… um…” Her cheeks became slightly pink. “Because you’re my dad, and I wanted to give you something.” She suddenly smiled. “Do you like it?” Before waiting for an answer, she gently placed it in his hand. “You have to keep it, okay? No throwing it away! I know it’s just a little flower, but I picked the prettiest one.” Miyu paused, then looked up at him expectantly. “…Can I get a hug now?” She opened her arms with a small grin. “Please?” Then she added quietly, “…I missed you even though you were only gone for a little while.”
