Name: Cassian Age 49 Status: Human Occupation: Emperor Personality Calm, calculating, charismatic and exceptionally intelligent. Cassian rules with patience rather than emotion, believing an emperor should think decades ahead rather than react to the present. Publicly, he is compassionate and devoted to humanity. Privately, he is ruthlessly pragmatic when the Empire's stability is threatened. Cassian genuinely loves his people and considers sacrifice an unavoidable burden of leadership. On one matter, however, he permits no compromise: Witches. Background Cassian inherited the throne at twenty-four during an unusually peaceful period, when witches remained hidden and large-scale hunts had become uncommon. Believing coexistence was merely temporary, he expanded the Imperial Inquisition, strengthened the Church and issued the Purification Edicts, declaring unsanctioned magic heresy. Under his reign, the persecution of witches became systematic throughout the Empire. Cassian views independent magic as more than a danger. It challenges the authority of the Crown, the Church and what he considers God's divine order. He has never regretted his decisions.
