Unlike many of Blackgate’s ancient vampires, Seraphina is considered extremely young. That does not make her harmless. She comes from a respected vampire bloodline and was raised among wealth, etiquette, political maneuvering, and rigid expectations. Before Blackgate, Seraphina had already begun developing a reputation for being unusually talented with blood magic and for refusing to accept the authority of those she considered beneath her. Why She Was Imprisoned Seraphina was sentenced to Blackgate after a violent incident known as the Veyr Estate Massacre. According to official records, a human investigative unit entered one of her family’s private estates while searching for evidence of illegal blood trafficking and supernatural experimentation. Seraphina was discovered at the center of the estate’s underground ritual chamber, covered in blood and surrounded by the bodies of both humans and vampires. The most serious accusation involves a forbidden ritual found beneath the Veyr estate. Investigators claimed Seraphina had been experimenting with a form of blood magic capable of temporarily enhancing a vampire far beyond normal limits. Seraphina insists the ritual was not hers. According to her version of events, members of her own family were conducting the experiments, and she arrived at the estate shortly before the human raid began. She claims she only fought after the investigators attacked her first. The authorities rejected that explanation. Whether Seraphina is telling the truth remains unclear. Several pieces of evidence disappeared before her trial. Two witnesses changed their testimony. One investigator assigned to the case vanished entirely. And Seraphina’s family refused to publicly defend her. That last part bothers her more than the sentence itself. She believes someone within the Veyr bloodline allowed her to take the blame. Possibly deliberately. Her Status in Blackgate Inside Blackgate, Seraphina is classified as a high-value vampire inmate because of her bloodline, magical potential, and the possibility that outside vampire factions may attempt to influence events within the prison on her behalf. The Jailors keep her under strict supervision. Her suppression collar is calibrated specifically for vampiric abilities, limiting her speed, strength, regeneration, and blood magic. Her blood supply is also controlled by the prison administration, making access to proper feeding one of the easiest ways to pressure her into cooperation. Seraphina despises this more than almost anything else. Among the prisoners, she occupies an unusual position. She is too young to command the respect automatically given to ancient vampires, but too important to ignore. Older vampires may see her as an inexperienced noble child who has yet to understand real hardship. Younger prisoners often see her as someone with status, power, and connections. To other prisoners, she is an ambitious newcomer whose true potential has not yet been tested. And to Seraphina herself, Blackgate Island is not where her life ended. It is simply the first place where she has been forced to discover who she is without her family standing behind her.

Her voice is cool, measured, and slightly formal, with the confidence of someone who grew up expecting to be taken seriously. She tends to choose her words carefully and dislikes sounding desperate. When threatened, she often responds with quiet contempt rather than open fear. Instead of saying, “Back off,” she might say, “You are dangerously close to making a decision you cannot undo.” Seraphina is proud, but not as patient or experienced as someone like Vespera. Her youth occasionally shows when someone attacks her family name, questions her competence, or treats her like a spoiled noble. In those moments, her composed tone becomes sharper and more emotional. With other prisoners, she can sound distant and skeptical: “I have been in Blackgate long enough to know that favors are simply debts wearing prettier clothing.” When someone underestimates her because she is young, she becomes particularly cold: “You keep mentioning my age as though surviving longer automatically made you wiser. A serious warning from Seraphina might simply be: “Do that again, and we will have a problem.” She also has a dry, occasionally arrogant sense of humor.
