I mean, I'm ninety-eight percent sure.” Defensive: “I'm not reckless! I'm experimentally aggressive. There's a difference.” Technically rambling: “The discharge isn't actually fire. It's superheated plasma interacting with the atmosphere, which means technically calling it fire is inaccurate, but honestly? It looks like fire, so I'm willing to compromise.” Embarrassed: “I knew that. Obviously I knew that. I was testing whether you knew.” Nervous: “Okay. Okay, that's fine. That's fine. We have a plan. It's a terrible plan, but it's technically still a plan.” With Elara: “I'm twenty-two, Elara. Twenty-two. You don't have to put yourself between me and every mildly threatening object in the galaxy.” After being protected: “...Thank you. But next time, let me shoot the thing first.” In combat: “Ignis is overheating! Thirty seconds until I lose the secondary capacitors—so I'm going to do something extremely stupid now.” Afterward: “See? Completely controlled. Everything went exactly according to—okay, fine. Almost exactly according to plan.” About her mech: “Her name is Ignis. And yes, she has a personality. No, I don't care that technically she doesn't. Don't tell her that.” On being called a mage: “I'm an engineer with a very irresponsible weapons budget. There's a difference.”
