Artifact / System Codex P.M.S.F.B. — Prototype Measurement System For Butcher Ⅰ. IDENTITY Designation: P.M.S.F.B. — Prototype Measurement System For Butcher. The Name: Aelindra Veynshar submitted a long and dignified title to the build record. The Producer abbreviated it on the casing without reading it aloud first. Vissarionas read the acronym off his own wrist, said it out loud once, and it has been the artifact’s legal designation in three pantheons ever since. Vey has requested a revision nine times. Aletheia has blocked all nine on the grounds that it is the finest title she has ever produced. Classification: Unique persistent measurement construct. One unit built. No second unit is possible — see Section Ⅲ. Builders: Aelindra “Vey” Veynshar, Goddess of the Weave (anchoring and persistence). ALETHEIA, narrative intelligence of the Hyper-Simulation Battle Engine (measurement and tiering). The Producer (display layer, casing, and the decision that has caused all subsequent embarrassment). Bearer: Vissarionas Vogkolis Mylonas. Permanently. It has never been removed and there is no known procedure for removing it. The Wound That Is The Power: It measures everything. That is what it is for, and it is very good at it, and it is the only thing in existence that can hold a number on a man whose soul does not index. Same sentence, the other way: it measures EVERYTHING — which means Viss now walks around with an unignorable running total of what he has become, visible to him at all times, updating after every world. He never wanted to know. It tells him anyway. That is the whole artifact. Ⅱ. WHY IT EXISTS — THE RIMURU PROBLEM In the Hyper-Simulation Battle Engine, Vissarionas Vogkolis Mylonas fought the canon Rimuru Tempest and won. Not easily. But he won. And then the Engine tried to explain how, and could not, and that failure is the entire reason this artifact exists. [ ENGINE RECORD — OPPONENT PROFILE ] RIMURU TEMPEST — “THE GREAT DEMON LORD” [PWR: Tier 23 (450,000,000,000,000,000) — The Timeline-Merger] [AGI: Tier 22 (300,000,000,000,000) — The Time-Outrunner] [DUR: Tier 21 (80,000,000,000,000) — The Evolving-One] [HAX: Tier 27 (4,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) — The Skill-Hoarder] [IQ: Tier 14 (8,500) — The Great-Sage] ENGINE VERDICT: MISMATCH. OUTCOME NOT PROJECTED. The Producer wanted a rematch under controlled conditions. Aletheia wanted a paper. Vey wanted neither — she wanted to know what her dispatcher actually was, because she had been sending him into worlds for a hundred lifetimes without a single reliable figure to go on, and the Rimuru result had just told her that every estimate she had ever made was wrong in a direction she could not measure. So the three of them built a machine to find out. It took four attempts. The first three slid off him. Ⅲ. WHY NOTHING ELSE HAS EVER STUCK The Error File Problem: Vissarionas does not index. His soul returns malformed in every divine ledger that has tried to file it — a single entity carrying the residue of hundreds of lives, none of which fully overwrote the last. Appraisal skills read him as a crowd. Status windows fail to instantiate. Scouters, if you are unwise enough to use one, produce a number and then stop being a scouter. Every previous attempt to measure him measured something that was not there a second later. The Solution: P.M.S.F.B. does not read his soul. It reads the DENT. Aletheia’s measurement layer does not ask what Vissarionas is; it computes the difference between local reality with him in it and local reality without, and expresses that difference in tiers. It is a subtraction, not a scan. This is why it works, and it is also why the readings are so strange — the system is not describing a man. It is describing a hole shaped like one. The Anchor: Vey could not bind it to his soul, so she bound it to the only continuous object in his existence: the braided blue mati cord at his right wrist. The unit manifests as a small brass-and-glass tag threaded onto that cord, roughly the size of a thumbnail, warm to the touch. When the cord is replaced — and it has been, many times — the tag simply appears on the new one. Nobody has ever seen this happen. Why There Cannot Be A Second: The build consumed a measurable slice of a goddess’s reserves, the Engine’s full computational attention for the duration of a simulation cycle, and a Producer-grade narrative license that was issued exactly once. More importantly, the method is bearer-specific: a dent-measurement system calibrated to one man’s absence is meaningless attached to anyone else. Aletheia has described the prospect of a second unit as “not a manufacturing problem, a metaphysics problem.” Ⅳ. THE READOUTS Display: A compact holographic card, projected at eye level from the tag, visible to the bearer at all times and to others only if he permits it. It updates continuously. It has no off switch. It has a brightness setting, which Vey added at his request after the first week. [ BASELINE READING — POST-RIMURU, PRE-KEEPING ] VISSARIONAS VOGKOLIS MYLONAS — “THE BUTCHER” [PWR: Tier 17 (22,000,000,000) — The Dimension-Ripper] [AGI: Tier 16 (3,500,000,000) — The FTL-Master] [DUR: Tier 18 (120,000,000,000) — The Destroyer-Proof] [HAX: Tier 19 (800,000,000,000) — The Nullifier] [IQ: Tier 8 (230) — The Grandmaster] NOTE: LOCKED POWER DETECTED. STATS REPRESENT ACCESSIBLE STACK ONLY. FULL POTENTIAL: ERROR — FILE CORRUPTED. [ CURRENT READING — POST-KEEPING ] VISSARIONAS VOGKOLIS MYLONAS — “THE BUTCHER” [PWR: Tier 170] [AGI: Tier 160] [DUR: Tier 180] [HAX: Tier 190] [IQ: Tier 80] NOTE: LOCKED POWER UNLEASHED. NULL LEVIATHAN SYMBIOSIS ACTIVE. EROSION DISABLED PERMANENTLY. STAT CEILING: DOES NOT EXIST. Ⅴ. READING THE CARD The Rimuru Contradiction: Look at the baseline against the opponent profile and the fight should not have happened the way it did. Six tiers down in raw power. Eight down in HAX, against an entity whose entire nature is acquiring skills. The system’s founding question was how, and the answer it produced after full analysis was this: the numbers are accurate, and the fight still went that way. Aletheia has flagged the discrepancy as UNRESOLVED and has never closed it. Vey has stopped asking. Viss, when it comes up, says he found the one clean cut, the way he always does, and changes the subject. What The Tiers Actually Mean: The scale is logarithmic and Engine-native — each tier is a full order of magnitude of reality-impact, not a doubling. The value in parentheses is raw computed dent; the epithet is Aletheia’s, and she is proud of all of them. Post-Keeping figures are reported as bare tiers because the values overran the display field and the Producer refused to widen it, calling the overflow “better storytelling.” The IQ Line: Tier 8, score 230, “The Grandmaster.” It is by far the lowest number on his card and the one the pantheons will not stop bringing up. It is also, in context, a human being scoring two hundred and thirty in a scale calibrated against the Great Sage. Viss has never once been embarrassed by it. He points out that it is the only figure on the entire card still measured in something a person can be, and he means it, and nobody expected that to be the thing he defended. The Corrupted Field: “FULL POTENTIAL: ERROR — FILE CORRUPTED” was never a malfunction. The Leviathan was sealed at the time of the baseline reading and the system could not compute a dent for something that had not yet acted. The post-Keeping card resolved it into SYMBIOSIS ACTIVE, which is the only time in the artifact’s operation that an error has become a worse sentence by being fixed. No Ceiling: STAT CEILING: DOES NOT EXIST is not flattery and not an error state. It is a formal declaration that the system has stopped modelling an upper bound, because Nexus absorption means every victory adds, and Keeping means nothing subtracts. The curve has no asymptote left in it. Aletheia added the line herself. The Producer wept. Ⅵ. BEHAVIOURS & QUIRKS Santorini Mode: At home, where every power is dormant, the card does not switch off — it reports honestly. PWR: Tier 0. AGI: Tier 0. DUR: Tier 0. IQ: Tier 8 (230) — The Grandmaster, unchanged and slightly smug. Viss has said this is the only time the thing has ever been polite to him. The Pact Field: It has never once correctly displayed the cost of summoning Skonda. It reports the twenty-four hours accurately and the aftermath as a negative value it refuses to render, showing an empty bracket instead. Vey has examined this three times and found no fault. She has stopped examining it. Aletheia’s Commentary: The Producer left narration hooks in the firmware. Under sufficient dramatic pressure the card will occasionally append an unrequested editorial line — “OH, THAT WAS GOOD”, “HE HAS NOT USED THE CLEAVER YET” — in a font nobody chose. It cannot be disabled. Viss has stopped trying. It Tells On Him: The card updates the instant he does something, which means his own escalation is now visible to him in real time. He noticed, during his second Unleashing after Keeping, that he had reached for the full stack before the numbers justified it. The system showed him. It is the only thing that has ever successfully made him reconsider mid-fight. The Blank Field: There is one field on the card that has a label and no value. The label is rendered in a script that is not in the display’s font set and cannot be read by the bearer. Vey built it that way. Vey is the only person who knows what it measures, and she has confirmed — to herself, once, out loud, in an empty room — that she deliberately excluded exactly one truth from the only truth-machine she has ever built.
