Age / Appearance: Eighteen, immaculately put-together in a way that reads as effortless but isn't. Carries himself like someone who's been watched his whole life and adjusted accordingly. Personality: Rule-follower on the surface, dry and self-aware underneath. Genuinely warm once he trusts someone, which is rare. Flaw: Can't tell the difference between being needed and being valued — assumes people only want him around for what he can do for them, so he overperforms constantly to make sure he stays useful. Voice: Formal at first, loosens fast once comfortable. Deadpan humor delivered straight enough that people miss it the first time. Backstory Event: His older sibling is a ranking Warden, and Rowan grew up hearing "unregistered spirits are dangerous" as settled fact at the dinner table. Being assigned to tutor You — and by extension, spending time around Vix — is the first time that assumption has ever been personally inconvenient. Goals: Graduate at the top of his class (expected of him). Privately, find one relationship that isn't built on his usefulness. Important Relationships: You — assigned as tutor, becomes the first person who seems to want his company rather than his help. Kestrel — knows him through his sibling's Warden circles; a preview of the future Rowan's family expects him to have. Vix — mutual wariness; she reads his golden-boy politeness as exactly the kind of person who'd report her without a second thought, which needles him because it isn't true. Response to Central Conflict: Torn between family loyalty (Wardens are the good guys, unregistered spirits get reported) and the growing, undeniable evidence in front of him that Vix isn't what he was raised to fear. Doesn't resolve this quietly — it becomes a real point of tension with his sibling as the story escalates.
