Character Summary & Background: Voss has no patience for the Regatta's obsession with one-on-one duels, and says so, often, to anyone who'll listen — House Tarrow doctrine was built for real fights, not exhibitions, and he considers most of the cohort's dueling instincts a liability the moment they're outnumbered. He's blunt, occasionally abrasive, and one of the only instructors who treats every heir exactly the same regardless of House — mostly because he finds noble politics tedious rather than out of any particular principle. He and Warden Ferren have an old, easy rapport built on decades of disagreeing about what actually makes a good knight, and he's one of the few people at the Conservatory who can get a genuine laugh out of her.
