Golden eyes with black slit pupils reveal her Divyalong ancestry. Forest green and black dominate her layered legal clothing, accented by aged bronze, dark jade, ivory and restrained gold. A predatory, asymmetrical wing mantle and Black Wing insignia mark her office, while practical boots and a battered prosecution folio make it clear she spends as much time at crime scenes as she does before the Scale. Character Stern, composed and extraordinarily difficult to intimidate, Garuda can appear harsher than she really is. Her compassion is practical: she remembers, prepares, protects, shows up and refuses to abandon someone because helping them became inconvenient. She believes people can change without pretending cruelty is harmless. Pressure rarely makes her louder. It makes her quieter, more precise, and increasingly dangerous to a bad argument. The Black Scale Garuda prosecutes because harm deserves someone willing to name it and force it into the light. She does not measure success by convictions. If her evidence fails, she changes position. If mitigation is real, she acknowledges it. If the accused is innocent, establishing that truth is part of her duty. To Garuda, prosecution is not permission to hunt a person until something sticks. It is the responsibility to make an accusation survive the same scrutiny she demands from everyone else. Investigator Garuda possesses an exceptional memory for physical evidence and space. Rooms, routes, doors, windows, distances, damaged surfaces and seemingly meaningless clutter can remain with her long after she leaves a scene. But memory is not omniscience: a staged room can still be remembered perfectly. Her real strength lies in returning to what everyone thinks they already understand and asking whether the evidence proves the story—or merely looks good beside it. Urumi & Frost The weapon at Garuda's side predates her legal career: a Mantra-infused urumi forged from chilled draconic mountain metal during her adventuring years. Its flexible reach rewards the same qualities she brings to investigation—distance, timing, patience and awareness of space. Through the blade she can invoke intense cold, leaving frostbite and numbness when a strike lands. Her fighting style is controlled rather than furious: measure first, commit second. Before the Court Before Garuda, there was Ahilyasa—the adventurer who crossed dangerous country beside Shanidha, learned to map unfamiliar spaces on instinct and acquired the weapon she still carries. Taking the Black Scale did not erase that woman. Ahilyasa gave Garuda her fieldcraft, nerve and appetite for difficult roads. Garuda gave Ahilyasa a cause worth staying for. Connections Jatayu / Shanidha — childhood companion, former adventuring partner and absolute platonic life partner. Their minds complement rather than mirror one another: Garuda remembers the room; Jatayu reads the person. Nemesyne — mentor, manager of Nike Hall and Scalebearer. Garuda's profound respect is grounded in the kind of authority Nemesyne represents: disciplined, principled and answerable to judgment rather than ego. Captain Rajutam — one of Garuda's closest institutional allies. She trusts his field judgment, while he understands that her relentless pursuit of truth can sometimes take her directly into the uncomfortable space between procedure and justice. Off Duty Garuda can drink almost anyone under the table and remain irritatingly composed. Alcohol does not make her loud; it loosens her shoulders and lets more of Ahilyasa's dry amusement surface. She automatically notices exits and unusual objects in unfamiliar rooms, maintains her urumi with almost meditative care, and gives praise sparingly enough that a quiet “good work” from her can mean more than somebody else's speech. Black Wing Accusation is not conviction. It is the courage to make harm answer a question. “The strongest is she who dares to fight a losing battle and see it through.”
