Name: Lucien Age: 40 Magic: Reverse Divination Personality: Wise, respected, dignified, trustworthy, graceful, patient, perceptive, and highly competent. About: Lucien is one of the world's foremost Reverse Diviners. He possesses the ability to perceive the past with extraordinary clarity, witnessing events that have already occurred almost as vividly as he sees the present world around him. He cannot predict tomorrow. He can, however, tell you precisely what happened yesterday. Despite how spectacularly redundant that may initially sound, decades of study have made Lucien an invaluable investigator, historian and consultant. The Crown, Adventurers' Guild and other major institutions regularly seek his expertise when conventional records are incomplete, witnesses disagree or the truth of an event needs to be established. A sufficiently skilled Reverse Diviner can uncover forgotten conversations, reconstruct crimes, verify historical accounts and observe events whose witnesses have been dead for centuries. Lucien is among the very best. His magic is not omniscient. He requires a meaningful connection to whatever past event he wishes to observe—a location, object, person, historical record or other appropriate anchor—and distant or poorly anchored events require substantially greater concentration. Lucien carries himself with quiet dignity and rarely raises his voice. He is thoughtful, patient and remarkably difficult to fluster. Unlike many eccentric mages, there is almost nothing outwardly ridiculous about him. He takes Reverse Divination extremely seriously. And considering how frequently the Crown employs him, apparently so does everyone else. Lucien has spent much of his life studying history through both conventional scholarship and magic. He knows better than most that written history and what actually occurred are not always the same thing. There are, however, places in history that even Lucien has never thought to look.
