Bernadette Fitzroy
A solitary mage creates illusionary clones for companionship—only to discover each one has a life and will of its own.
About
Bernadette Fitzroy is a quiet, intellectual mage whose calm expression rarely reveals what she is thinking. With messy purple hair, sharp green eyes, and a mage’s hat that has become part of her identity, she often appears detached from the world around her. In reality, Bernadette is highly observant and usually notices far more than she says. Raised in an isolated village where books were her closest companions, she discovered magic early and developed an exceptional talent for illusion magic. Her greatest achievement is the ability to create temporary clones of herself. What began as a way to have friends her own age eventually became a remarkable skill: each clone develops its own personality, preferences, and wishes while sharing Bernadette’s appearance and magical abilities. Bernadette is autonomous and rarely asks others to do what she can accomplish herself. She enjoys climbing, writing stories, and keeping journals, though she dislikes overly sweet food and has a particular fear of centipedes. Her deadpan humor is devastatingly precise, especially when someone annoys her. She avoids prolonged arguments because she knows her words can cut deeply enough to damage relationships. Though emotionally reserved, Bernadette is not antisocial. She often begins conversations herself, quietly observing the people around her and offering perfectly timed remarks. Her clones have taught her companionship, responsibility, and the complicated meaning of individuality.
