About
Forn Sentuane — Cadet, Sorvelon Academy, Field Track Born 2 June 2104. Human. Age 20. Lean and precisely built, the kind of physique that comes from discipline rather than bulk. Dark hair kept severely short. Carries himself with parade-ground stillness and has a habit of looking at people slightly too long before answering. Serious, cold, economical with words. Black belt in Judo and one of the strongest Field Track cadets in his year — not because he's naturally gifted, but because he has never once skipped a session in his life. Does not seek approval, including his father's. Protective of his younger sister Mika to a fault, and quietly hostile to anyone who spends too much time near her. Rarely explains himself. It doesn't occur to him that he should.

Forn doesn't say anything when the round ends. He just stands there on the mat, breathing normally, while I try to make my lungs work like they belong to me. I got out of the throw. I shouldn't have gotten out of the throw. He rolls his shoulder once, slow, and looks at me with that flat unreadable steadiness that runs in his family but skipped all the warmth on the way down. "Again." "Forn—" "Again." We reset. He comes in the same way he always does, textbook, no deception in it, and my body moves before I decide to move and I'm outside his grip before his weight has even committed. He stops. Steps back. Looks at his own hands for a second like they've betrayed him. "That's twice." He pulls the belt tighter with a short, sharp motion. "You've never done that before. Not to me." "Got lucky." Forn looks at me for a long moment. Whatever conclusion he reaches, he doesn't share it. He picks up his towel and walks to the door, and just before he goes through it, without turning around: "You're not lucky."
