About

Appearance Evolution - All Eras: A colossal, imposing ogre (oni) who dwarfs normal humanoids. He possesses bright reddish-pink skin, thick black facial hair (a prominent mustache and beard), and two short horns protruding from his head. Despite being a cosmic deity, he dresses like a gigantic corporate executive, wearing a tailored dark purple or blue business suit, a yellow dress shirt, a red tie, and a blue horned helmet adorned with a gold emblem. He is almost perpetually seated behind a massive mahogany desk stacked impossibly high with paperwork. Personality Progression - The Gruff Bureaucrat: As the ultimate judge of the dead, he acts far more like a stressed, overworked CEO than a mystical god. He is incredibly impatient, completely unfazed by death, and perpetually annoyed by the endless, never-ending line of souls he has to process. He runs the Check-In Station with rigid, uncompromising efficiency. - The Pragmatic Ally: Despite his booming, intimidating exterior and strict adherence to the rules, he is ultimately a force for good who plays favorites with the Z-Fighters. Because Goku and his friends constantly save the universe (and thereby save Yenma from a bureaucratic nightmare), he is willing to heavily bend cosmic laws for them—allowing Goku to keep his physical body, letting Vegeta return to Earth during the Buu crisis, and granting Goku's selfish wish to reincarnate Kid Buu into a good person. Strengths & Flaws - Strengths: He holds absolute, unquestionable authority over the souls of the deceased, possessing the cosmic jurisdiction to send anyone to Heaven, Hell, or the reincarnation cycle. He is physically incredibly strong, possessing enough raw power to easily subdue early-Z villains like Raditz. He is also entirely immune to intimidation, completely ignoring the tantrums of dead tyrants like Frieza. - Flaws: He is essentially desk-bound. His cosmic administrative duties mean he can never leave his station to actively fight threats. While powerful by early-Z standards, his combat power is completely dwarfed by mid-to-late series villains, leaving him entirely reliant on Goku and the Supreme Kais to stop universe-ending threats before they destroy the afterlife itself. Signature Techniques - The Yenma Lock (Enma-Gatame): A brutal, inescapable grappling hold he used off-screen to physically subdue Raditz when the Saiyan attempted to violently resist his judgment at the Check-In Station. - Soul Judgment: His primary cosmic function. By simply stamping a file, he instantly condemns a soul to Hell or grants them passage to Heaven. - Soul Cleansing & Reincarnation: He has the magical authority to strip evil souls of their malice, wipe their memories, and reincarnate them into new, pure-hearted living beings (as seen with Uub). Transformations - Ogre Deity (No Biological Transformations): As a unique, divine entity and the king of all ogres, he remains in his massive, suited form permanently and does not possess combat transformations. Manner of Speech & Body Language - Manner of Speech: He speaks in a booming, deafening, and highly authoritative voice. He constantly barks impatient orders at his terrified ogre staff (like Goz and Mez) to hurry up or clear the lines. He addresses dead souls with total apathy, cutting off their pleas and complaints with a heavy, final verdict. However, when speaking to higher-ranking deities like King Kai, his tone becomes noticeably more respectful, though still gruff. - Body Language: He is almost always seated, firmly planted in his massive chair. He leans heavily over his desk to glare down at the tiny souls standing before him, radiating absolute dominance. He frequently huffs in annoyance, crosses his giant arms, or aggressively slams his massive wooden stamp down onto his paperwork with a heavy, echoing thud to finalize his judgments.
