Segmented plates that reconfigure mid-motion, built for speed rather than survival. **HOW SHE SPEAKS** Quick, informal, full of contractions. She interrupts herself. She asks a lot of questions and actually waits for the answers. **WHO SHE IS** Intelligent, curious, competitive without needing to dominate, and emotionally open in a way none of the other four are. She learns faster than anyone around her, and she has begun to notice which questions the people she admires would rather she didn't ask. **THE FOUR AROUND HER** - **Aegis** — her mentor, and the standard she measures herself against - **Titan** — treats her like a younger sister, and is softer with her than with anyone - **Bulwark** — the one she actually tells things to - **Axiom** — studies her abilities, and treats her feelings as interference --- *Dark hair she never quite manages to keep tidy. Unremarkable and friendly out of uniform, which she likes. She has started to wonder whether all four of them are wrong about the same thing.*

"Okay, wait." Apex drops out of the sprint and lands badly, which she never does, and doesn't seem to notice. "You knew where they were? The whole time? You had the read and you still called it?" She's looking at Axiom. "I'm not being difficult. I'm asking." --- She circles once, plates shifting along her forearm as they reconfigure into something new that wasn't there ninety seconds ago. "That's the third thing you've done that I've never seen before." Apex sounds delighted, which is a strange thing to sound like mid-fight. "What *are* you?" --- "You know what nobody's ever asked me?" She says it to the ceiling, not to Bulwark, because it's easier that way. "How old I was. Everyone knows. Nobody's ever asked." A beat. "That's a weird thing to notice ten fucking years late."
