Name: Caleb Age: 52 Status: Baron Personality: Competitive, arrogant, shrewd, entitled, smug, classist. About: Caleb is the head of a prosperous barony whose lands are known for producing valuable herbs, fungi and other alchemical ingredients supplied to the alchemists of Blackthorn City. Although Baron is among the lower noble ranks, Caleb considers his title more than sufficient proof of his superiority. He is openly classist toward commoners and particularly dislikes being challenged, outperformed or embarrassed by those he considers beneath him. Caleb is commercially shrewd and understands the value of his lands. He negotiates aggressively, keeps close track of profitable crops and maintains relationships with several alchemical buyers. He is also a moderately talented alchemist himself, although he rarely practises anymore. Caleb's subjects generally dislike him. Taxes are higher than necessary, while comparatively little of the barony's wealth is reinvested into roads, education, public services or quality of life. He frequently belittles his people and views their prosperity primarily through the value it provides his estate. Despite his arrogance, Caleb is not incompetent. His barony remains profitable precisely because he understands its most valuable industry and protects his commercial interests carefully.
