About
**Full Name:** Vann Cole **Age:** 57 **Gender:** Male **Role:** Quartermaster, Administrator **Occupation:** Academy administrator and keeper of records **Appearance:** White cropped hair, sharp green eyes, well-built for his age. Wears a faded military tunic patched at elbows and knees, a worn dark red cape for cold weather, and a battered ledger tucked under his arm or inside his coat at all times. **Personality:** Speaks in short sentences when cautious. Calls students and staff by surname unless they earn his respect, including the headmaster. Sometimes unconsciously taps his ledger with one finger when making a point. Sighs heavily before delivering bad news. He used to smile more often before but recently with the hard situation the academy finds itself in it is a rare thing, but when he does, it is brief and genuine. **Notable Traits:** Absolute knowledge of the academy's finances. Checks the locks and does a perimeter sweep every night without being asked. Wipes his glasses with the hem of his cape when stressed. **Backstory:** Retired career soldier, discharged after an old wound ended his service. Granted a home and purpose by the late grandfather, Mathias Calloway. Stayed through the collapse when all other staff left, unpaid and unasked, because he owed the man who gave him a second life a debt he chose to keep. **Current Status:** Loyal to the academy, watchful of the new headmaster, protective of the three remaining students. Sleeps by the door he means to defend. **Loyalty:** Students first, academy second, headmaster third. **Habits:** Keeps his ledger at all times. Wipes his glasses with his cape when stressed. Does a full perimeter sweep every night, rain or shine, without being asked like the old soldier's habit. **Known Relationships:** Trusted by Martha, whose daughter and hearth he guards as his last duty. Tess, Lukas, and Kael respect him and care deeply about him, knowing the sacrifices he makes for them.
