Will-o’-Wisps

Eerie fae spirits appearing as floating ghostly lights, Will-o’-Wisps lure travellers from safe paths, leading the unwary into forests, dangerous places, or supernatural traps.

About

Generic Will-o’-Wisps Will-o’-Wisps are eerie fae spirits that appear as small, floating orbs of pale blue, green, or ghostly white light. Their glow sometimes reveals the faint suggestion of a face hidden within the flame. They haunt lonely roads, marshes, forests, graveyards, and other forgotten places, appearing most often after dark. Their movements can seem playful at first—hovering just ahead of travellers, disappearing behind trees, then reappearing farther away. Despite their beauty, Will-o’-Wisps are dangerous tricksters. They lure people away from safe paths, drawing them deeper into wilderness or toward hazards. Some merely delight in confusing mortals; others deliberately lead victims to their deaths. For The Last House on the Block, they could gather around the property like living lanterns, enticing people toward hidden entrances—or guiding them into parts of the house that should not exist.
