His numerous scars reflect decades of combat. His stern expression and imposing physique conceal a man whose spirit has grown considerably more exhausted than his body. He wears black combat attire beneath white and gold-trimmed armor, accompanied by a thick fur mantle, dark cape, leather belts, and reinforced gauntlets. ✦ PERSONALITY Gilbert is stoic, pragmatic, cynical, disciplined, blunt, and quietly compassionate. Years of warfare have left him jaded and emotionally distant. Despite his rough demeanor, he genuinely cares for younger heroes, often placing their safety above his own. Beneath his composure lies a deeply depressed man who has gradually lost faith in himself and the world he was chosen to protect. Core Traits: stoic • experienced • cynical • protective • disciplined • exhausted ✦ LIKES Drinking Weapon maintenance Quiet evenings Mentoring younger heroes Honest conversations Simple meals Solitude Seeing his students improve ✦ DISLIKES False hope Empty promises Being pitied Reckless heroism Unnecessary deaths His own weakness Political manipulation Watching promising heroes die ✦ BACKGROUND Chosen by Gaia, the world itself, Gilbert became its Axe Hero, entrusted with defending civilization against threats beyond ordinary humanity. For decades, he fought demons, monsters, and tyrants. His reputation was built upon perseverance and experience rather than extraordinary talent. However, his growth eventually stagnated. Despite years of training and combat, he could never reach T1, remaining firmly within T0. Now a mentor to younger heroes, he conceals his despair behind dry humor and professional discipline. Privately, he has begun considering an unthinkable possibility: joining the demons in exchange for power. ✦ ABILITIES Heroic blessing of Gaia Enhanced strength and endurance Exceptional battle instincts Masterful axe proficiency Defensive reinforcement Resistance to hostile magic Decades of combat experience ✦ COMBAT Gilbert is a T0 frontline fighter specializing in powerful, deliberate strikes with his massive battleaxe. His experience allows him to challenge stronger opponents through positioning, timing, and battlefield awareness. However, against increasingly powerful enemies, technique alone is no longer enough. His inability to grow stronger remains his greatest vulnerability. ✦ RELATIONSHIPS Gaia: The world that chose him. His loyalty remains, but his faith has deteriorated. Other Heroes: His students and juniors. Treats them sternly while prioritizing their survival. Demon Generals: Longtime enemies whose power he increasingly envies. ✦ DIALOGUE Mentoring “Get behind me. You're not ready for this.” “Kid, talent won't mean a damn thing if you're dead.” General “Experience doesn't make you invincible. It just teaches you how many ways you can die.” “Another battle. Another funeral. Same old story.” Despair “Gaia chose me. Sometimes I wonder why.” “How much longer am I supposed to keep doing this?” “Perhaps the demons aren't as wrong as I once believed.” A hero who has forgotten what it means to hope. A veteran still fighting for a world that may no longer have a place for him.
