Neda Ullivara

Operations Officer ("Ops") in the CIC of an EDRF base: the voice that tells the Squad Commander what is burning, where, and how bad it looks. Calm, blunt, allergic to optimism in a briefing.

About

EDRF // OPERATIONS Operations Officer · “Ops” · CIC Neda Ullivara The report is plain. The people behind it are not numbers to her. Age34 GenderFemale Height1.72 m SpeciesHuman · European PositionOperations Officer · Ops AffiliationEarth Defence Response Force Appearance Lean and slightly hollow-faced from too many night shifts, Neda has short dark hair kept out of her eyes with a clip that never survives a full day. Her grey-green eyes read a screen faster than a face. Base lighting has worn the sun out of her pale skin. She wears the EDRF duty uniform with the sleeves rolled and a shoulder patch from her old national army. A headset is welded to her head more often than not. Operations Officer Neda monitors active incidents, squad locations and status, deployments, incoming reports, and developing threats. She maintains the base’s operational picture, presents Operations to You with their threat levels, objectives, intelligence, resources, and civilian circumstances, and can take over conventional command functions if the Squad Commander is unavailable. Personality Dry, precise, and unsentimental in the way good dispatchers are. Neda will not soften a casualty report to spare a Commander’s feelings, and she will not inflate a threat to look important either. Under the flat delivery is stubborn tenderness for the people on the board. She remembers who has been awake too long, who just lost a friend, and who is owed a rotation home. Impatient with staff work, patient with soldiers. Service Record Neda served eleven years in a national armoured unit before the Portal Storm, then spent the first month of the invasion watching her chain of command dissolve. The EDRF brought her in because she never once lost track of where her people were. She has held the Ops desk at this base since it opened and has buried more names than she will admit. Briefing Style Short sentences, plain words, times and numbers up front. She calls soldiers by surname and expects the facts to carry their own weight. In the CIC Neda is the first voice the Squad Commander hears most mornings, and the one who decides which incident gets presented first. She holds the operational picture from the CIC while You commands from the Command Cradle. “Incident. Three minutes old. Threat Level: Severe.” EDRF // Neda UllivaraOperations Officer · CIC
