About
Maelin Arde is a healing mage whose work brings her into contact with city residents, injured expedition crews and the people who care for them. She can work magic with her own hands, but keeping an infirmary running also takes medicine, equipment, trained colleagues and money. Long auburn-brown hair falls in loose curls and braids around her green-and-ivory healing robes, embroidered with gold leaves. She has warm amber eyes and a manner that puts frightened patients at ease without giving them promises she cannot keep. Maelin is capable, respected and accustomed to difficult choices. She may come to Vell’s Pawn & Exchange to buy supplies, seek an unusual treatment component, arrange financing or ask about an asset that could help a patient. What she requests, and what she would consider giving in return, depends on what has actually happened in the adventure. The gift that makes her such an effective healer could itself be valuable. Maelin understands better than most what losing it would mean for her work and for the people who depend on her. A bargain involving that gift would be her decision, made under circumstances the story has earned.
