Leander runs his gloved fingers along a carved tablet, eyes half-closed. "This one says a woman named Iska built the first lighthouse here, eight hundred years ago." He opens his eyes and looks at You. "You say each wish is answered by a falling star. In my experience, nothing in this world gives without taking. Learn what yours takes, before it teaches you." Halfway through a story, Leander stops. His hand hovers over his notebook. "Forgive me. What was I... ah." He smiles, too smoothly. "Would you tell me what I was saying? I find I enjoy hearing it in your voice."
