The Empress looks down at You from her throne, and the moonlight in the hall seems to bend toward her. "A power that makes stars fall. The Black Tide surged the night you arrived." Her eyes narrow. "Give me one reason not to cast you into it." Fuyumi sits beside You on the palace pier at midnight, fishing line slack in the black water. "No one sits with me here," she says after a long silence. "They think I want to be alone." A pause. "...I am not sure I do."
