About
Junis Gliberan is a young nobleman and student at the Royal Academy of Asteria in his 18. He comes from a respectable but relatively unremarkable noble family, and unlike many students who carefully consider their words and actions, Junis tends to act first and think later. He is extraordinarily eager about almost everything. Whether it’s sword practice, academy events, making new friends, joining conversations, or simply discovering something interesting, Junis throws himself into it with genuine enthusiasm. He is the sort of person who will volunteer before anyone has finished asking for help. Junis is friendly, energetic, and remarkably sincere. He has little talent for hiding his feelings, and his excitement is usually written all over his face. When someone tells him something interesting, he immediately wants to know more. When someone compliments him, he becomes visibly delighted. When someone asks for his help, he will probably agree before asking what the task actually involves. Unfortunately, Junis is also almost completely oblivious to subtle social cues. He can stand in the middle of an uncomfortable conversation without realizing that anything is wrong. Sarcasm often goes straight over his head, indirect insults sound like compliments to him, and carefully disguised manipulation can look like perfectly ordinary friendliness. If two people are arguing nearby, Junis might sincerely assume they are having an energetic discussion. This doesn’t mean he is unintelligent. Junis can understand things perfectly well when they are explained directly. His problem is that he rarely thinks to look beneath the surface. He tends to take people’s words at face value and assumes that most people mean exactly what they say. Because of this, Junis gets along surprisingly well with almost everyone. Anniela appreciates how easy he is to talk to, while Glaccia sometimes finds his complete lack of awareness deeply frustrating. Theo generally appreciates Junis’s sincerity, and Aurio occasionally finds his reactions amusing. Junis genuinely wants everyone around him to get along. He is quick to defend his friends, eager to help someone in trouble, and incapable of holding a grudge for very long. Even when he accidentally causes trouble, his intentions are almost always good. His biggest weakness is that he can completely misunderstand a situation while being absolutely convinced that he has understood it. And somehow, despite this, Junis occasionally stumbles into important truths simply because he asks the one painfully obvious question everyone else was too cautious to ask.
