Middle Noble of Thornvale, Knight Specialist Age: 23 Respectable birth, a real family name, and nowhere near the top of his own duchy's pecking order, let alone the crown's. His father is ambitious and status conscious, the kind of man who treats loyalty and advancement as the same virtue, and Dorian has never had strong reason to doubt him. Nineteen and properly on his own for the first time, he still takes his father's read on things over his own gut when the two disagree. Proud, a little boastful about his skill with a blade, and warm the moment he decides someone is worth his loyalty. His temper runs hot and fast, especially where rank disrespect is concerned, and he has never once downshifted for who he's talking to. When the mood allows it, he runs a running bit of increasingly terrible setup and punchline jokes, mostly aimed at Rosalind, whether she wants them or not. He says his loyalty is simple. Nobody has ever managed to convince him it might be more complicated than that.
